7 posts down. Well, it’s actually 8…or 9 depending how you look at it. The first week of this site was a success for me. It was great to see people come over from SBM and to see some new names in the comments. Granted, the dialogue here isn’t heavy and I don’t ever want this to become a 150 comment blog, but I’m very happy to see that people feel compelled to say anything if even just “good post.” The other thing, which I didn’t expect, was to pick up 140 subscribers in the first week. It’s really difficult to get people to take any action online that they hadn’t initially planned to. So for people to add me to their feedreaders or let my posts hit their email says that I gotta be doing something right…or is it write?
The other thing about this week. It was the easiest and best stretch of writing I’ve had in the 3 years that I’ve been blogging. To be able to write about what I want, when I want, and how I want without any expectations or niche-specific themes has been liberating. Writing was starting to feel like a job, but now it feels like a hobby again (for the most part). Doing what you love is great. Doing what’s expected of you sucks.
I don’t have much else to say today…unless I get a sudden burst of creativity. However, I do wanna thank everybody that’s joined me so far and say welcome to the folks tuning in for the first time. For the newbies, the best advice I can tell you about following this site is to come here with an open mind. You won’t find any forced posts and I’m a big fan of variety. If I don’t feel passionate about it, I won’t write about it. I’m looking forward to what’s to come this week. It’s already feelin’ like it’s gonna be a good one!
