I love this time of year. I get the chance to spend a few days with family, reflect on what’s been accomplished, map out some new goals, and get a few days off from work. I’ll be honest. Having 5 days straight of life sans plantation brings me tremendous joy. The little break makes a big difference in my attitude and energy. I’ll end up getting more accomplished in the next week than I’ve probably accomplished in the whole year. I’ll explain why I said that on another day. But for today, I’m just happy to be here.
Hopefully, you feel the same. If you don’t, take a moment to reflect on this past year and all the ups and downs. You’re still here. You’ve gotten through them, or you’re getting through them. You have supportive family and friends that want you to be great, whether it be people online or “in real life” as we like to say.
It’s funny. Sometimes I think folks online are more generous and encouraging than people I know in real life. Of course I know there are tons of trolls out there spewing unnecessary and destructive e-venom. But, I don’t wanna focus on the negativity. I’m choosing to focus on the good and the positive plenty. You should do the same. It’s healthier and changes your life’s trajectory by about 20 degrees.
I’m only putting up one post next week. It’s gonna be something on New Years Resolutions. I’m not sure which day I’ll run it, but you’ll know when it’s here. In the mean time, happy holidays and I’ll see you sometime next week.
Oh, and do feel free to share one good thing that happened to you this week and/or what you’re looking forward to this holiday season.
Reflecting & Recharging,
well I was very surprised to be recognized in front of my entire team for all of my hard work. And they personalized the “spot” award with a picture of a bee, since one day I want to own a bee farm.
I don’t handle public recognition well so I start cheesing and blushing, but it was very nice!
I also got to see the family pictures that we all took over thanksgiving. It’s the first time we’ve ever taken family pictures. I thought that was very special.
I’m thankful for the holiday, even though I’m working (from home). I need a break and I need it QUICK!
Happy Holidays!
I don’t like public recognition very much either. Especially when people start yelling “speech!” Then again, I guess it depends on the situation. Congrats nonetheless!
Ok, so I will be the first to get this party started! I am looking forward to a lot this weekend! I love the holidays, always have. My parents always go all out and now that I am older it is super cute to see my mom get excited about us coming to visit and such. Also, my abuela is celebrating her 87th birthday and I can’t wait to see all of my extended family for her celebration. I am also looking forward to working at the Long Beach Rescue Mission for the next several days. Working with people that are less fortunate humbles my spirit and allows me to give back; I thrive on that. I realize around this time of year especially how blessed I am. This year started off rough and is finishing on a much better note. God is good!
*sidebar* I didn’t miss Eff’m Friday so much afterall Slimster. Love the new feel to TRSJ! Enjoy your vacay! I am off next week as well…cheers!
Cheers, dranks, and umbrellas.lol
LOL at drinks and umbrellas!!!…also at myself for thinking I was first to post. -_-
This time of year is usually very tough for me but this year I’ve been doing a lot better at focusing on the good and finally getting (somewhat) back into the Christmas spirit. I’ve been working since I was like 14 but this is the first time I’m doing Christmas with a full-time job so I went ALL OUT with gifts for my family this year. Got stuff for my nieces and nephews, all of the female cousins in my crew (they are really my sisters…), got my Dad this Kindle he’s been talking about and paying for my brother’s winter term classes. I just cant wait to give the gifts out and see people’s faces ^_^ it’s really just my small way of saying thank you to my family for seeing me through high school and college and now the beginning of my career. I’m genuinely happy around the holidays for the first time in a DECADE…and even though it won’t be the same, I’m just happy for progress
Happy Holidays everyone!
My parents gift this year was an act of service and it’s totally made my year!
I’m very blessed to have my family. I don’t get to be with them this year on Christmas Day but we spent a week together at Thanksgiving and my parents were just with me for 4 days and they’re a blessing to me 365 days a year.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
I like the positive spin Slimothy.
Always happy to see you drop by and it’s good to hear your parents got you feeling good during the holiday season and beyond. Hope all has been well otherwise witcha!
Our boy turned six and our relationship turned eleven. Woot woot!
Merry Christmas Slim! Get some rest!
Merry Christmas!
Late to the party..was on vacation with the family. And it was amazing…white sandy beaches of Diani, Kenya…you should visit. And the family bond grew stronger…it was a lot to give thanks for and a great way to end 2011. Thanking God for a solid family…not everyone has that, will not take it for granted.
Belated Merry Christmas Slim and have a blessed and hopeful 2012.
I got my grades back last week, and not one of them was a C, like I thought. Thankful for that.
This holiday season I’m looking forward to trying something new, and learning how to be more patient.
Happy New Year!
