Today’s a great day. It’s a beautiful day. No work and I’m headed to DC for the SBM Happy Hour this evening at The Park. It’s always great to meet up with readers and fellow bloggers alike to kick it over frosty beverages. Well, or hard ones. Pause, but that’s beside the point. If you’re in town, you should come through. We’ll be getting the party started at 5pm.
Oh. In case you missed them, I have a couple posts running this week. Both of which went up yesterday. I have a post on SBM called The Diary of a Mad Blogger Pt. 1. On UPTOWN, I have a joint called 7 Things Men Think But Rarely Say to Women. Check them out, support, share, and all that good stuff when you have the chance. If you’re a regular here, I think you’ll love the SBM post. It’s an honest look at a moment in time as a writer. I always tell people that this ain’t easy and there will be minutes of frustration after hours of writing. That’s just the way it goes, but it’s something that readers don’t always understand.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out The Ten Habits of Passionate People. Of the reading I got to do this week, this article was my favorite one. Anyway, I need to get some stuff done before I make this fantastic voyage. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you next week!
Slim
Hello SLIM,
I been reading ur blog for about a month now, and SBM for like 4 months. Being that I am shy and not a native english speaker, I refrain from commenting. But today, I feel that I should let know that you inspire me in more than one way. I just love your writing style and appreciate how sincere and candid it is. Keep up the good work and I have no doubt u will get to that great place u are striving for. Sending you loads of love all the way from Mali, West Africa. Have a blessed week end!
Appreciate this message!
You giving me inspiration now!
Hi Slim,
Enjoy DC tonight! I would have loved to have attended that social. Great posts, I especially like the one on Uptown. The weekends are great, taking everything down a notch. Speaking of habits, I’m trying to read more and get into 7 habits of highly effective people. I have way too many books unread.
Stay great,
Amanda
P.S, do you get our mailing list ? We have been extra busy and I know you’re too. Thanks for supporting my org in March. It means everything.
Hey Amanda,
I do get emails from yall. Oh, and 7 Habits is definitely a great book. I’m reading How to Win Friends and Influence People right now and that’s a great one also. Add it to the list of unread if you haven’t checked it out already.lol
Hey Slim,
How’s it going? Enjoy DC, I have loads of good memories down there before I got married.
Anyway, I’ve been reading you post here off and on but never posting. Guess I’m a lurker. I have to say, the Uptown post was pretty much dead-on. I would readily agree with at least 5 out of the 7 items. I guess I don’t read enough Blogs to notice any big difference from a few years ago to now. Before I got married, I read a few blogs but they were very specific to my interest at the time. After I got married, didn’t have that much time to, stuff happens, life, family etc…
Saying all that to say, have fun in DC.
