The Gold Medalist Bryan Brothers and Nesquik at Duane Reade #DRNesquik

I haven’t drank much chocolate milk or played tennis since I was a kid. So you can imagine the nostalgia that set in when I was invited to a Nesquik event at Duane Reade a couple weeks ago to meet the Bryan Brothers, 3-time U.S. Open champions and 2012 Olympic Gold Medalists in Men’s Doubles Tennis.

As soon as I walked in the store, I was greeted with more chocolate milk in one place than I’ve ever seen before. I guess that’s not surprising given that Nesquik was a sponsor for the event and of the Bryan Brothers.

It was cool to meet some of the other Duane Reade VIP Bloggers who came through to cover the event. We got to meet the Bryan Brothers ahead of the crazy line that would soon develop.

I also got to meet the Nesquik bunny. Man, I love bunnies. I’ve said this before and some people have gotten mad at me and I just can’t understand why. How could you not love bunnies?

Yeah, I threw up the peace sign like that would make the picture more “urban” and acceptable. I know this is still questionably cheesy, but how could I not post this pic?

I feel bad for the person in that suit though. It was warm in the store and he or she was moving around a lot. I’m guessing they just put some Downy sheets in there to make it more bearable.

Anyway, what came next was really awesome. The Bryan Brothers showed up with one of the Olympic gold medals. This joint was heavy.

Even better than that, I had to chance to put the medal on and take a picture with them. There were actually like 4-5 pictures taken. I had to pick one, so I went with this one.

I didn’t realize these guys were that tall. I actually felt a little under-heighted standing next to them. That aside, I was happy to get this pic. Like, how often will I get the chance to stand with two Olympic gold medalists…that are twins…and play tennis together as a team? Yeah, like never.

I asked them about their biggest highlight from the Olympics other than winning gold, only to find out that within a couple days of competing they were on a plane to another tennis tournament. I tried to come up with another question to ask, but stuttered and before I knew it, I was going down the slide like Ralphie in A Christmas Story.

All in all, a good event. A lot of people came out to Duane Reade to meet them. I’m glad I could be one of them. Check out some additional photos from the event in my Google+ album.
